ZAPPAESK

The Spirit of Zappa as a Comic – Not Just for Fans and Friends of Frank Zappa Underground imagery, unsparing quotes, provocative lyrics, and biographical details: "ZAPPAESK" is a musical visual journey through the life of the exceptional artist and enfant terrible Frank Zappa – and a tribute to the "mother of invention." Andreas Rausch creates an impressively creative fusion of Zappa´s biographical details with quotes from his often ruthlessly provocative lyrics. By playing with time, Rausch suspends the chronology of events (biography, compositions, expanded artistic representations) in order to rearrange the "evolution of a creative thought" with absolute freedom and in a new way. Since the author places great emphasis on analogies, the story is interwoven with cultural, scientific, philosophical, and artistic truths even from outside the Zappa universe. "ZAPPAESK" is likely to amuse and inspire not only Frank Zappa fans, "but also those who, for example, are interested in Quantumphysics, Goethe´s "Faust", Pop Art, Dante´s "Divine Comedy", the colonization of Mars, Socrates, or cheap horror movies." In the book´s detailed and extensive appendix, THE ACT II, the connections already presented and hinted at here are further explored; made clear and expanded to another new level. This gives the interested reader the opportunity to revisit and enjoy the comic on a "higher level of understanding." This book is therefore the manifestation of "One Size Fits All," to quote Zappa, whose affinity for comics and their readers provides yet another argument that it was high time to publish "ZAPPAESK."
