Wonder Woman #38

The Matriarch has followed Steve and Trinity into the past and attempted to secure her own future by stealing her infant self from Wonder Woman, who is also trying to protect young Elizabeth from her. Wonder Woman is already aware of the Matriarch's existence thanks to the visions she got from the King Omega tournament, while Trinity prepares to use the Lasso of Death against the Matriarch, despite Wonder Woman's protests. The Matriarch, protected by the energy field generated by her Green Lantern ring, easily catches the lasso mid-flight and wrestles it away from Trinity. Exposure to the Lasso of Death has cursed both Trinity and the Matriarch because no woman was meant to hold it. Wonder Woman agrees to fight the Matriarch on equal terms and safely puts baby Lizzie into the ground before starting the battle. The Matriarch immediately goes back on her word and attacks Wonder Woman with her ring, but Wonder Woman deflects the energy blasts with nothing but her bracelets. The fight is interrupted when Steve tells Wonder Woman that Trinity is not breathing and the Matriarch claims to be capable of saving her.
